Late-night bus service added to complement new
Metrorail and Metromover service hours

MIAMI (May 23, 2017)

This week, the Department of Transportation and Public Works began operating a new shuttle service between the Government Center and Palmetto Metrorail stations, and augmented service on Route 500 (Midnight Owl) to complement the newly adjusted Metrorail and Metromover service hours.

The late-night shuttle will serve all Metrorail stations between the Government Center and Palmetto stations, and will operate in coordination with the new Metrorail service hours.

  • Northbound shuttle trips will depart from the Government Center Station at 12:30 a.m. and 1:00 a.m.
  • Southbound shuttle trips will depart from Palmetto Station at 12 a.m. (midnight) and 1:30 a.m.

Route 500 (Midnight Owl) now has the following additional trips departing from Metrorail stations:
Monday-Thursday
 A new southbound trip departs from the Government Center Station at 12:05 a.m.
• A new northbound trip departs the Dadeland South Station at 11:32 p.m.

Saturday
• A new southbound early morning trip departs from the Government Center Station at 6:05 a.m.
• A new northbound early morning trip departs from the Dadeland South Station at 5:32 a.m.

Sunday
• A new southbound early morning trip departs from the Government Center Station at 6:05 a.m.
• A new northbound early morning trip departs from the Dadeland South Station at 5:32 a.m.
• A new southbound trip departs from the Government Center Station at 12:05 a.m.
• A new northbound trip departs from the Dadeland South Station at 11:32 p.m.


For riders who typically took advantage of the Metrorail system in the late evening hours, there are several Metrobus routes that offer late-night or overnight service and connect Route 500:

• 3: Overnight service on Biscayne Boulevard, from the Downtown Bus Terminal to 163 Street and Aventura malls.

• 11: Overnight service on W Flagler Street, from the Government Center Metrorail station to Mall of the Americas, Sweetwater and Florida International University Maidique Campus.

• 27: Overnight service on SW/NW 27 Avenue from the Coconut Grove  Station to the Brownsville Station and the Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza Station, Opa-locka, Miami Gardens and NW 211 St.

• 38 Busway MAX: Overnight service on the South Dade Transitway, from Dadeland South Metrorail station to Palmetto Bay, Perrine, Cutler Bay, Goulds, Princeton, Naranja, Homestead & Florida City.

• 77: Late night service until 1 a.m. on NW 7 Avenue, from Government Center Metrorail station to Golden Glades Park & Ride Lot and NW 199 Street & State Road 441.

• S: Overnight service through Miami Beach, from the Government Center Metrorail station to Aventura Mall.

• 246 Night Owl: Overnight service from the Government Center to Civic Center Metrorail station, Golden Glades Park & Ride Lot via NW 22 Avenue and 163 Street Mall.
