Precautionary swimming advisory boundaries reduced

MIAMI (June 12, 2017)

A portion of the precautionary advisory for recreational water activities including swimming that was issued Friday for East Greynolds Park, Maule Lake and the Oleta River area has been reduced. The testing and monitoring of sites within the Oleta River and the Oleta River State Park has now concluded.

The advisory remains in effect for Maul Lake and East Greynolds Park. As a precautionary measure, the public is advised to refrain from swimming, fishing and other water recreational activities within the boundaries. Signs will remain in the areas being tested.

The precautionary advisory was the result of an air release valve that broke off a 36-inch sewer line at Biscayne Boulevard and Northeast 168 Street causing approximately 5,800 gallons of wastewater to enter the waterway.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the department’s website.
