Metromover Eighth Street Station renamed
Brickell City Centre Station
On Wednesday, June 28, 2017, Miami-Dade County and City of Miami officials will be joined by Swire Properties Inc. executives to celebrate the completed renovations of the Eighth Street Metromover Station and to rename it the Brickell City Centre Metromover Station.
Swire Properties worked closely with Miami-Dade County’s Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) to enhance the existing station.
For the first time in Miami-Dade Transit history, a third level was added to a Metromover station. The third level at the Eighth Street Station connects passengers directly to Brickell City Centre. Shoppers and diners need only to go up one level when they disembark on the station platform to go inside the Centre.
The project also seamlessly integrated new technologies, such as a new closed-circuit television system, with the existing system to create a state-of-the-art station.
