Miami-Dade County to host groundbreaking for the Westchester Cultural Arts Center

Held at Tropical Park on Friday, July 14 at 10 a.m.

MIAMI (July 13, 2017)

Miami-Dade County Commissioner Javier D. Souto, District 10, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, and the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department are hosting a groundbreaking ceremony for the Westchester Cultural Arts Center, which will be located at the main entrance to Tropical Park, 7930 SW 40 Street, Miami. Designed by Zyscovich Architects, the building plans feature a 200-seat studio theater and support spaces.

The Center, which is funded by the voter-approved Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond program, will provide cultural programming and instruction focusing on Hispanic arts and culture and will serve the needs of residents in the western region of Miami-Dade County. Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Parks, Recreation, and Open Spaces Department worked together to develop the program and project scope for the Center that will provide important services to the community at Tropical Park.
