Summer Service Bash at Tamiami Park will have volunteers 'going nutty'

In partnership with Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and Open Road Films and the debut of "Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature," this signature service day celebrates Park and Recreation month

MIAMI (July 24, 2017)

Miami-Dade Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department, the Parks Foundation of Miami-Dade and Open Road Films invite volunteers to “go nutty” for their park by volunteering at Summer Service Bash, Saturday, July 29, 8:30 a.m. – noon, at Tamiami Park Disability Services Center (11201 SW 24 Street). This signature service day celebrates July’s Park and Recreation month and is in partnership with Open Road Films and its debut of the film Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, with Surly Squirrel and the gang returning to protect their beloved Liberty Park from development.

Summer Service Bash volunteers will show their appreciation for their local park by participating in projects that will benefit children with disabilities who attend the Disability Services program.  Projects include painting the interior of the community center, planting and improving the landscaping, as well as other overall park beautification projects.

In addition to earning community service hours, volunteers will also receive: One free ticket to an advance screening of Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature; a goody bag on behalf of the film; and get to meet their favorite squirrel, Surly, who will be on site for selfies.  As part of Park and Recreation month, be sure to share your photos with @Miamidadeparks and use the hashtags: #LiveAParkLife and #PlayonJuly.

Summer Service Bash is a family-friendly volunteer opportunity.  Light breakfast and lunch snacks will be provided. To register or for more information, please visit www.iaminvolved.org.
