Transportation Trust announces keynote speakers at 2017 Transportation Summit

MIAMI (September 05, 2017)

The Citizens' Independent Transportation Trust (Transportation Trust) announces the keynote speakers for the 2017 Transportation Summit taking place on September 28-29 at Miami-Dade College (MDC) Wolfson Campus in the Chapman Conference Center located at 300 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami, Florida.  Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez will deliver a keynote address during the opening session where he will share his vision for public transportation in Miami-Dade County.  Also speaking is Commissioner Esteban L. Bovo, Jr. who is Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners and the Transportation Planning Organization and will present his perspective on local and regional transportation issues.

Richard A. White, the current President and CEO of the American Public Transportation Association will discuss national public transportation matters and also brings to the forum his eperience as the past General Manager of the Washington Metropoitan Area Transit Authority.  Dave Howard, the CEO of Bringhtline, will update attendees on the intercity passenger rail system set to openlater this year that will provide service from Miami to Orlando.

The Transportation Trust has partnered with Miami-Dade County, the Board of County Commissioners, the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce, the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, the Transportation Planning Organization and the South Florida Regional Transportation Authority to present the 2017 summit.  The theme this year is "Implementing the Community's Vision for Public Transportation" and seeks to continue the momentum generated by summits organized by the Trust in 2013 and 2015.

The event will bring together citizens, government officials and transportation advocates to discuss a range of issues related to public transportation.  Attendees can also visit the Exhibitor Showcase throughout the day, share opinions in community engagement activities and take part in the discussion through the live Twitter feed and the streaming broadcast.
