UPDATE: Miami-Dade County curfew has been extended

MIAMI (September 10, 2017)

Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez is extending the daily countywide curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. until further notice. Until the curfew is discontinued, residents should remain in their homes between seven each evening and seven each morning.

Mayor Gimenez issued this curfew in order for County personnel to begin damage assessment and the clearing of roadways.

As Miami-Dade County begins recovery efforts from the impacts of Hurricane Irma, County employees aiding in the recovery efforts, such as those working to clear roads, are exempt from the curfew. Employees who have questions regarding their road clearing assignments should contact their immediate supervisor as soon as possible.

Residents can best aid these road clearing and other clean-up efforts by avoiding unnecessary travel during non-curfew hours. For those who must venture out during non-curfew hours, please remember that inoperative traffic signals should be treated as four-way stops.  Additionally, residents are being warned that all downed power lines should be treated as live power lines.

Miami-Dade County residents needing weather and storm information should monitor radio and television stations. Residents may access official Miami-Dade County emergency information at, call the 311 Contact Center or follow us @MiamiDadeCounty on Twitter and Facebook.
