Statement regarding Metrorail delay on September 18, 2017

MIAMI (September 18, 2017)

Statement from the Department of Transportation and Public Works regarding Metrorail delay experienced the morning of September 18, 2017:

“We apologize for the delay on our Metrorail system during this morning’s commute. A passenger inadvertently pulled the emergency brake, causing an interruption in service. The train was delayed 15 to 20 minutes, and in order to continue to provide service, other trains were single tracked around the down train.

During the delay, we also experienced technical difficulties with our radio communications system, which was damaged during Hurricane Irma.

We are working on fully restoring our communications infrastructure as soon as possible and to continue to provide reliable service throughout our transportation system. We urge patrons to sign up for the Miami-Dade Rider Alerts and download the free MDT Tracker app for transit service information.

We apologize for any inconvenience during this incident. Public safety is, and always will be, a top priority for the Department of Transportation and Public Works.”
