Miami-Dade County Auditorium offers a vibrant fall and winter 2017 lineup

MIAMI (October 02, 2017)

The Miami-Dade County Auditorium (MDCA) is offering a diverse 2017 fall and winter schedule with exciting music, dance and theater events. Part of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, MDCA is located at 2901 West Flagler Street, in the heart of Miami’s world famous Little Havana neighborhood, and is committed to showcasing the work of Miami-Dade County’s and the world’s great theatre, music and dance companies. Programs are presented in English, Spanish and simultaneous translation is made to best serve Miami’s diverse and multilingual audiences.

The cultivation of Miami-Dade County’s outstanding producing and presenting performing arts organizations is central to the Auditorium’s mission. “We are delighted to launch a new and vibrant season at this venerable theatre featuring international acts and homegrown artistic talent,” said Michael Spring, Director of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs. “From Latin Grammy Nominated artist Jose Negroni to former Miami City Ballet Stars Carlos Guerra and Jennifer Kronenberg to Pulitzer Prize-winner Nilo Cruz, this is a glimpse of the incredible programming that Miami-Dade County Auditorium provides for the community.”

Enrique Chia in Concert
Cuban pianist Enrique Chia returns to present his annual concert covering the most popular tunes from the Americas. MUSIC

Maggie Carles in Concert
Singer Maggie Carles returns to the stage to celebrate her 50 year career with special guest Falete. POP MUSIC

October 22, 2017 / 5:00 p.m. (On.Stage Black Box)
MDCA in collaboration with Culture Shock Miami present Yoli Mayor in Concert
Miami native and America’s Got Talent sensation Yoli Mayor will make her MDCA debut. POP MUSIC

October 31, 2017 / 8:00 p.m. (On.Stage Black Box)
MDCA in collaboration with Alma Dance Theatre present Cask
Cask is an annual Halloween Holiday event! This breath-taking tale of betrayal, murder and revenge is brought to life through contemporary dance... inviting you into the mind and underground layer of a deranged murderer. Inspired by Edgar Allen Poe's The Cask of Amontillado. DANCE

November 4-5, 2017 (MDCA’s Mid-Stage Theatre)
MDCA in collaboration with Fundarte present Casa Patas’ Binomio
After their successful presentations in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016, Casa Patas returns to MDCA’s stage. Bringing their unique blend of pure flamenco, Casa Patas is recognized internationally for its traditional form of Tablao and was named a cultural patrimony by UNESCO. FLAMENCO

MDCA in collaboration with Hispanic American Lyric Theatre and Dimensions Dance Theatre present A Tribute to the Palladium Night Club
The Palladium located on 53rd Street & Broadway, NY was a night club which became famous for its constellation of Latin Stars that performed there during the clubs heyday. Among the famous Latin artists that performed were Desi Arnaz, La Sonora Matancera, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, La Lupe, among others. Featuring Alain Garcia and The Latin Power Band with performances by Dimensions Dance Theatre. MUSIC/DANCE

November 16-17-18-19, 2017 (On.Stage Black Box)
MDCA and Arca Images present Sotto Vocce written and directed by Nilo Cruz
(part of Brand New: Fresh / Local & On.Stage Series)
A young Jewish-Cuban man sets out to recover memories of the S.S. St. Louis, which in 1939, left Nazi Germany filled with Jewish refugees but was turned back by Cuba, the U.S. and Canada. He seeks out a prominent, elderly, German-born woman novelist who, in her youth, loved a Jewish man who was a passenger to Cuba on the ship. In this play of obsession and despair, Cruz lures three characters into a sea of darkness so they can find a unity of souls through their relationship with history and literature. THEATRE

Thomas Armour Youth Ballet presents The Nutcracker
A two-act ballet, with a score by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, the complete Nutcracker has enjoyed enormous popularity since the mid-20th century and is now performed by countless ballet companies, primarily during the Christmas season. Tchaikovsky's score has become one of his most famous compositions. BALLET

Once again Latin Grammy Nominated artist Jose Negroni and MDCA team up to help you kick off the holiday season. This time with a distinctive Puerto Rican flavor. JAZZ
