Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez to waive port tariff charges for relief efforts to Puerto Rico
Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez announced today that PortMiami will be waiving certain tariff charges for any donated humanitarian relief cargo to the Island of Puerto Rico.
"Our brothers and sisters in Puerto Rico are recovering from a devastating hurricane and Miami-Dade County will do its part to help them," Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez said. "Puerto Rico will not be forgotten."
The tariff waiver shall apply to ocean carriers which are also waiving their transportations fees for donated goods such as food, medicine and/or emergency construction supplies or equipment to Puerto Rico. This waiver shall be in effect until further notice by PortMiami.
