Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department repairs broken sewer line, "Avoid Contact with Water" advisory issued for affected water ways

MIAMI (October 09, 2017)

An “Avoid Contact with the Water” advisory for the areas of Maule Lake, Little Maule Lake, Oleta River State Park entrance (kayak launch) and the swimming area is in effect. Private marinas also affected include: Marina Palms Yacht Club, Williams Island Marina, Plaza del Prado Condominium Marina and Commodore Plaza Condominium Marina.

The advisory is a result of an 18-inch sewer line break, which resulted in a spill into the water at 7900 Williams Island Blvd. Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is in the process of repairing the break and have posted signs around the affected areas.

The Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources are testing the posted waters and the advisory remains in effect until two consecutive days of clear testing occur.

It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the department’s website.
