Contractor damages Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department's 96-inch water main, closures to Northwest 74 Street and Palmetto Expressway area
A contractor hit a 96-inch water main on Northwest 74th Street near the northbound entrance ramp to the Palmetto Expressway early Friday morning. Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) crews are on site assessing repairs. Visual message boards are being posted in the area to update commuters.
To accommodate repairs, roadway impacts include:
- Westbound lanes on Northwest 74 Street from Northwest 74 Avenue to the Palmetto Expressway are closed, however, access to the northbound ramp remains open;
- Northbound drivers on the Palmetto Expressway may only exit and travel east from the Northwest 74 Street exit ramp or drivers can enter the northbound ramp onto the Palmetto Expressway to exit from Okeechobee Road in order to travel west.
Traffic impacts will remain in effect until the repairs are complete. This in no way impacts pressure or water quality within WASD’s distribution system to the department’s customers.
