Miami-Dade Parks to host first Annual Health and Wellness Harvest Resource Festival for people with disabilities

MIAMI (October 23, 2017)

The first Annual Health and Wellness Harvest Resource Festival for people with disabilities and their families and caregivers will take place on Saturday, October 28, 2017, at Kendall Indian Hammocks Park, 11395 SW 79 St., Miami (near shelters 1 and 2.) The event is presented by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and Providence Healthcare Services.

From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., participants enrolled in Miami-Dade Parks Disability Services Programs and Providence Healthcare Services’ patients will join their families and caregivers for fun, interactive activities that involve adaptive art, music, and fitness, and more.

Activities include:

  • Adaptive fitness, presented by Miami-Dade Parks Disability Services
  • “Teal Pumpkin Patch” raising awareness for kids with allergies, presented by Home Depot
  • Adaptive art and music
  • Workshops and demonstrations on nutrition
  • Free health screenings
  • Goodie bags, provided by Providence Healthcare Services and community sponsors
  • And food truck vendors and fun rides, including a bounce house, a bungee jump, rock climbing, and more

The Festival benefits the Leisure Access Foundation, a not-for-profit 501©3 organization dedicated to bringing a variety of sports, recreation and cultural activities to children and adults with disabilities in Miami-Dade County.
