Adopt-a-Tree to take place Sunday, October 29

MIAMI (October 24, 2017)

Adopt-a-Tree, the popular free tree giveaway, will take place at 9 a.m., Sunday, October 29, at the Miami-Dade County Fair and Expo Center. Miami-Dade residents eligible to adopt two free trees will be able to choose from a variety of tree species, such as mulberry, soursop, sugar apple, and more.

This is a great opportunity for homeowners to replenishment their tree canopy. Experts will be onsite to show participants how to properly plant and care for their new trees.

Residents can also bring their current shower heads and three of their most heavily used regular light bulbs and trade them for more efficient ones (while supplies last). These “green” opportunities help residents save money on their energy and water costs.

Community service hours are available for students who volunteer to work an Adopt-a-Tree event.

The Adopt-a-Tree program was created in 2001 to help increase the tree canopy of Miami-Dade County. Since then, more than 198,000 free trees have been given away within the community.

For additional information, including the eligibility requirements, visit the Adopt-a-Tree website or call 3-1-1.
