Statement from Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez on the passing of Parker Thomson
I was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Parker Thomson. Parker believed in Miami's potential to become a world-class community with an arts scene that would be second to none.
Parker was instrumental in making the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts a reality. He was the founding chair of the Performing Arts Center Trust, and without his vision and determination, there would not be the grand Performing Arts venue that we have today.
His legacy in Miami-Dade County will be as the man who spearheaded a cultural movement. Future generations of Miamians will know Parker's name and be forever grateful for his passion of the arts.
