Miami-Dade Parks hosts USATF 'RunJumpThrow Day' featuring Olympic gold medalist and world champion Justin Gatlin
Wannabe Olympians or just your average athlete, ages 18 and younger, are invited to don their running shoes and participate in the USA Track & Field RunJumpThrow (RJT), event on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Tropical Park Stadium, 7900 SW 40 Street, Miami, FL from 9 am to 2 pm. This hands-on learning program gets kids excited about physical activity by introducing them to basic running, jumping, and throwing skills. World Champion sprinter and Olympic gold medalist Justin Gatlin will appear to offer special tips and techniques on getting started or improving your sport.
The RJT plan offers a selection of 20 learning stations for participants to choose from, including dynamic warm-up, running form and technique, standing broad jump, softball throw and one-legged hop. The program culminates with a non-competitive track meet where kids can apply the new skills they learned and celebrate their achievements.

The four-time Olympic medalist won six NCAA titles in just two collegiate seasons for the University of Tennessee before turning professional. Since then, Gatlin has had a storied career as a prolific athlete. He remains committed to giving back to youth through his Justin Gatlin Foundation and by supporting USATF and The Hershey Company’s RunJumpThrow program. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist at 100 meters, Gatlin in 2005 became only the second man in history to sweep the 100m and 200m world titles, and his winning margin of 0.17 seconds in the 100m was the biggest in world championship history. Gatlin remained unbeaten in the 200m from May 18, 2013, to July 7, 2016. He most recently highlighted his 2017 season with a stunning World Championships win against Usain Bolt in the 100m.
