Tropical Park to host Health & Wellness Harvest Resource Festival for people with disabilities Oct. 20

The second annual Health and Wellness Harvest Resource Festival for people with disabilities and their families and caregivers will take place Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Tropical Park, 7900 S.W. 40 St., Miami (Shelter #1).  The event is presented by the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department and Providence Healthcare Services.

From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., participants enrolled in Miami-Dade Parks Disability Services Programs and Providence Healthcare Services patients will join their families and caregivers for fun, interactive activities that involve adaptive art, music, fitness and more! The event is open to the public. News media representatives are invited to come out to interview/photograph families enjoying adaptive family-fun activities.

Activities will include:
•Adaptive fitness and music therapy presented by Miami-Dade Parks Disability Services.
•Workshop from Home Depot hosting a Teal Pumpkin Patch to raise awareness for kids with allergies.
•Art-2-Go by Perez Art Museum Miami.
•Zot Artz project presented by FIU Recreational Therapy Club.
•Visit from Miami-Dade County Police Department.
•Workshops and demonstrations on health and nutrition.
•Free health, dental and vision screenings.
•Food vendors: Crepe Maker of Kendall and Cici’s Pizza.
•Fun rides: a bounce house, Airborne Adventures and Basketball Football Toss.
•Bags filled with goodies from Providence Healthcare Services.
•Activities by Gold Sponsors: Badia Spices and New Way Day Services, Inc.
•Resource Village of community partners providing information for families.

The Festival benefits the Leisure Access Foundation, a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to bringing a variety of sports, recreation and cultural activities to children and adults with disabilities in Miami-Dade County.
