The Department of Transportation and Public Works to host SMART Plan East-West Corridor workshops

The Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works (DTPW) will host two alternatives workshops regarding the proposed rapid transit improvements for the East-West Corridor.

The East-West Corridor runs from State Road 836/Dolphin Expressway from Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) at Miami International Airport (MIA) to State Road 90/US 41/SW 8 St. at SW 109 Ave./Florida International University (FIU).

As a component of the Strategic Miami Area Rapid Transit (SMART) Plan, this project will consist of evaluating rapid transit alternatives. It will also include transit stations/stops as well as Park-and-Ride/transit terminal facilities.

The workshops offer an opportunity for the public to provide input on the development of the project. The same information will be presented at both workshops.

The meetings will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on:

  • Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2019, at the Independent Living Facility at St. Dominic Gardens, 5849 NW 7 St., Miami.
  • Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at Belen Jesuit Preparatory School, 500 SW 127 Ave., Miami.

For those unable to attend either workshop, DTPW will stream the Thursday, Jan. 31 workshop live on Facebook at 6 p.m. at facebook.com/GoMiamiDade. The public can submit questions via email to [email protected] Questions will be collected until 11:59 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 28 and answered during the Q&A portion of the workshop.
