Contractor hits 54-inch water main on Red Road in Hialeah, results in road closures, possible lower than normal water pressure for northern portion of Miami-Dade County
A non-department contractor struck a 54-inch watermain at West 29 Street and Red Road (West Fourth Avenue in Hialeah), which has resulted in north and southbound traffic to be closed on Red Road between West 21 to 32 streets and the east and westbound traffic at West 29 Street and Red Road.
Repairs are estimated to take multiple days and residents near the site, as well as in the northern portion of Miami-Dade County may notice lower than normal water pressure during this time.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) will increase water pressure from the Hialeah Water Treatment Plant and area pump stations to mitigate the impact. However, the department is requesting that residents conserve water usage during peak usage times - during early morning and evening hours - for the next few days to lower demand on the system.
It is the priority of the Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department to provide safe, reliable service to its customers. For additional information about Department services and programs, visit the WASD website.
