Adopt-a-Tree to take place Saturday, September 14, 2019
Adopt-a-Tree, the popular free tree giveaway program, will hold its final event of 2019 at 9 a.m., Saturday, September 14, at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center, 10950 SW 211 Street, Cutler Bay.
Miami-Dade residents eligible to adopt two free trees will be able to choose from a variety of tree, species, such as soursop, locustberry, marlberry, orange geiger, green buttonwood, Jamaican caper and pigeon plum.
This is a great opportunity for homeowners to replenish their tree canopy. Experts will be onsite to show participants how to properly plant and care for their new trees.
Online registration is open for the September 14 event. It takes only 2-3 minutes to complete and allows participants to pre-select their trees and skip the registration line at the event. Community service hours are available for students who volunteer to work an Adopt-a-Tree event.
The Adopt-a-Tree program was created in 2001 to help increase the tree canopy in Miami-Dade County. Since then, more than 200,000 free trees have been given away in the community.
