Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management announces Christmas tree mulch availability

Free mulch will be made available for Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management residential waste service area customers, while supplies last

MIAMI ( March 23, 2021 )

The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste (DSWM) encouraged all residents to participate in the DSWM “Go Green, and Recycle Your Evergreen” Christmas Tree Recycling Program this past holiday season. Residents were able to drop off their Christmas trees to one of the DSWM’s participating Trash and Recycling Centers (TRCs) or the West Miami-Dade Home Chemical Collection Center. Those evergreens have been chipped, and the material is being made available to DSWM residential waste service area customers, free of charge.

DSWM residential waste service area customers interested in picking up Christmas tree mulch must bring their own bags/containers and tools to scoop the mulch, and the mulch is available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

Mulch is only available for DSWM residential waste service customers. No commercial mulch pickup is permitted.

Mulch will be available at the following seven TRC locations (open seven days a week from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) beginning March 24, 2021:

  • Eureka Drive – 9401 SW 184th St.
  • Golden Glades – 140 NW 160th St.
  • Moody Drive – 12970 SW 268th St.
  • North Dade Landfill – 21500 NW 47th Ave.
  • Sunset Kendall – 8000 SW 107th Ave.
  • West Little River – 1830 NW 79th St.
  • West Perrine – 16651 SW 107th Ave.

Residents are reminded that they must wear a mask or protective facial covering at all DSWM facilities.
