On July 17, 2008, the Economic Stimulus Ordinance proposed by Mayor Carlos Alvarez, was approved by the Board of County Commissioners.  The plan is intended to stimulate the economy by accelerating the contracting process over the next 12-18 months for approximately 140 capital projects valued at $600 million.

The Department of Small Business Development (SBD) is supporting this effort to ensure participation of small businesses on County contracts.  Through small business programs administration, our goal is to create contracting opportunities in the areas of construction, architecture and engineering services.  All Economic Stimulus Projects (ESP) will be reviewed by SBD for the application of program measures.
