A WDO is an organization that is regularly engaged in providing training, recruitment or referral and placement of individuals on jobs in the construction field. A WRO is a workforce recruitment or referral organization that recruits and/or refers individuals for jobs in the construction field. Both organizations target individuals in DTA. In order to register with MDC as a WDO or WRO the organization must be in Dade or BrowardCounty and must be in business for at least one year. To register as a WDO or WRO contact The Department of Small Business Development (SBD) at 305-375-3111 or you may download the form at this website by clicking Forms.
How does a WDO or WRO receive an incentive fee?
A WDO that trains and places a new hire (a person that resides in a DTA) on a job for a minimum of 120 days, or for the length of a project, whichever is less, is eligible to receive $750 for that new hire. A WRO that places a new hire is eligible to receive a $500 fee under the same conditions. To receive the fee, once the new hire has completed his/her assignment the WDO/WRO notifies the requesting department and the CWP Coordinator for issuance of payment.
