Photo Opportunity on Wednesday, October 30th

(MIAMI, October 18, 2013) - Miami-Dade Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) is celebrating National Weatherization Day on Wednesday, October 30th by completing work on Eugenie Moreau’s home located at 1219 NE 145 Street, Miami FL 33174.

Serving as the nation’s core program for delivering energy-efficiency services to low-income households, the Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) utilizes funds received from the U.S. Department of Energy (DEO) to install energy efficient measures in homes.

Ms. Moreau, a WAP participant, will receive new windows, doors, attic insulation, smoke detectors, energy efficient light bulbs, a new refrigerator and showerheads, and other weatherization services.  The home will also be painted and landscaped as a result of services CAHSD offers through their Home Beautification Program.

The Energy Division of CAHSD offer county residents permanent solutions to reduce the energy burden on low-income families by installing cost-effective, energy-efficient materials and services.  Participation in the program is based on income eligibility, with priority given to the elderly, the disabled and households with children under 12 years old.  Other criteria include the assessed energy burden to the occupant.
