The Human Trafficking Community Resources Awareness Symposium: Raising Human Trafficking Awareness in Miami-Dade County

(MIAMI, May 12, 2014)  Miami-Dade County Community Action and Human Services Department (CAHSD) and the Miami-Dade County Human Trafficking Coalition, in collaboration with Americans for Immigrant Justice and the University of Miami’s Center of Excellence for Health Disparities Research (El Centro), are hosting the Human Trafficking Community Resources Awareness Symposium to bring community agencies together to share practices for providing effective treatment to victims of human trafficking.

The symposium will feature a series of presentations from agencies that specialize in providing services to victims of human trafficking.  This initiative seeks to educate providers and advocates on how to treat victims, as well as raise awareness on the available resources in our community.   It serves as the first of many community events that will shed light on the issue of human trafficking in Miami-Dade County.

This event will take place on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the University of Miami School of Nursing and Health Studies, located at 5030 Brunson Drive, Room 428, in Coral Gables, Florida.  This event is free and open to the public.  Parking is also free for all registered participants.

To register, visit http://mdchumantraffickingevent.eventbrite.com.  If your agency would like to present, please contact Jessica E. Lopez at [email protected].  For more information, contact CAHSD Violence Prevention and Intervention Services at (305)-285-5900.
