“Rising Stars” Out of School (OOS) Program
The “Rising Stars” Out of School (OOS) Program is for children ages 5-18 years residing in targeted communities throughout Miami Dade County. “Rising Stars” provides services specific to both the general population and also children with learning deficits.
The program focuses on enriching activities, with an emphasis on technology training and access. It is centered on five core components:
- literacy/academic support,
- physical activity/fitness,
- social skills development,
- nutrition and
- family involvement.
The program provides tutoring sessions, computer classes, field trips and other activities to the children enrolled. Services are also provided to parents and include family development, computer training, employability skills, money management, parenting classes and family counseling.
