Hurricane Irma

As we continue our recovery and cleanup efforts, please visit the Emergency website for the latest information on openings and closings in Miami-Dade County.

Ordering a New Waste or Recycling Cart

The standard size waste cart is 96 gallons and the standard recycling cart is 64 gallons. You can exchange the waste cart for a smaller 35-gallon or 65-gallon cart.

The standard recycling cart can be exchanged for a smaller 35-gallon or larger 95-gallon cart. To exchange a recycling cart or order an additional recycling cart, call 3-1-1.

The waste and recycling carts are the property of Miami-Dade County. You may not mark, modify or otherwise alter the carts.

If you move to a new residence, the carts must remain with the house for use by the next resident.

To exchange your cart, call 311.

Ordering additional waste cart service

The additional cart service fee is $79.50 per fiscal year.

The annual per cart service fee will be prorated depending on when the property owner signs up for the service. There is no longer a $50 charge for the cart itself as was previously paid by customers in past fiscal years.

The fee is non-refundable and subject to annual adjustment each fiscal year. Service cannot be discontinued during the year once additional cart service has been activated.

For more information, call 311.

Ordering an additional recycling cart

To encourage increased participation in the single-stream curbside recycling program, the department is offering one additional recycling cart per household at no extra charge.

Increasing your household’s recycling efforts helps save space in your waste cart and increases the amount of recyclables that can be turned into new products.
