Miami-Dade County Public Works and Waste Management's Home Chemical Collection Center in west Miami-Dade is moving

(MIAMI, September 24, 2013) – The Miami-Dade County Department of Solid Waste Management’s (PWWM) Home Chemical Collection Center in West Miami-Dade is moving October 2, 2013, but it’s good news for patrons: the new location will be on the same parcel of land in an easier-to-find location.

“We’re moving our West Miami-Dade Home Chemical Collection Center to a more visible location on the same property,” said Paul Mauriello, PWWM Assistant Director, Waste Operations.  “The new site will be much easier for patrons to find as they drive along N.W. 58th Street.”

The address for the old center was 8831 NW 58th Street.  The new center’s address will be 8801 NW 58th Street.  The old center was located in the northwest corner of the site.  The new center will be situated closer to NW 58th Street.

Signs and banners will be placed around the property to indicate the location of the new Home Chemical Collection Center.

The PWWM’s Home Chemical Collection Centers are available for Miami-Dade residents delivering household generated home chemicals.  The Centers accept a wide variety of materials, including automobile batteries, used electronics, used motor oil, oil-based paints, fluorescent light bulbs (including CFLs), pool chemicals, tar and more.

The Home Chemical Collection Centers are located in West Miami-Dade at 8801 NW 58th Street and in South Miami-Dade at 23707 SW 97th Avenue, Gate-B.  Normal hours of operation are Wednesday through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

For more information on the PWWM’s Home Chemical Collection Centers, including a more comprehensive list of items accepted at the Centers, residents may visit the PWWM website at www.miamidade.gov/solidwaste or dial 3-1-1, the County's Answer Center.
