Public Works and Waste Management announces availability of the 2013 Annual Progress Report for the Local Mitigation Strategy

(MIAMI, December 5, 2013) – The Department of Solid Waste Management (DSWM) announces the availability of the attached 2013 Annual Progress Report for the Local Mitigation Strategy (LMS) for public review. 

The LMS is used as the floodplain management plan for Miami-Dade County.  The document is prepared by the LMS working group, which is composed of representatives from local municipalities, state and federal agencies, schools, colleges and universities, hospitals, the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians, not-for-profit organizations, private sector companies and Miami-Dade County government departments. The role of the LMS is to create a comprehensive list of mitigation projects, providing updates semi-annually.  

The latest published version of the LMS is available for public review and commentary at www.miamidade.gov/fire/mitigation.asp.  Comments can be provided via e-mail to [email protected].  Additional inquiries can be directed to the PWWM Stormwater Planning Division at 305-372-6529.
