Miami-Dade County's Strategic Plan is the cornerstone of our results-oriented government. Budget decisions are based on the priorities identified through our strategic planning process. Each department develops a Business Plan that outlines how their key activities will support Strategic Plan priorities.
During the next few months, we will be asking for input from a variety of sources to help us refresh our Strategic Plan:
-
A countywide Resident Survey and focus groups will be conducted.
-
Professional staff will be reviewing their operations to ensure that our Strategic Plan goals remain relevant.
-
Special Community Planning Teams (CPTs), composed of practitioners and experts from both inside and outside of government will provide feedback on each strategic area.
The Strategic Plan provides a roadmap for the upcoming years as we allocate resources, improve overall performance and ensure we are delivering results. This plan update will be coordinated by the County Executive Office and supported by the Office of Strategic Business Management (OSBM).
As we refresh the Strategic Plan, lessons learned and recommendations received over the past five years will be incorporated. One key objective is to develop clearer and more succinct goals and outcomes, while reducing the number of "layers" in our plan.
The result will be a more streamlined and straightforward document that will simplify department business plans and better support the budget process which allocates resources. The new plan will have better key performance indicators (KPIs) to help gauge the achievement of results that matter.
