Miami-Dade County inaugurates the Tax collector's new office location

(MIAMI, August 27, 2014) – Miami-Dade County is proud to announce the inauguration of the Tax Collector’s new offices on Thursday, August 28, at 10 a.m., located at 200 N.W. 2nd Avenue, Miami, Florida 33128.  The Tax Collector’s office will be officially open for business at the new location, Tuesday, September 2, 2014.

Managed by the County’s Internal Services Department, the new office was designed with a focus on customer service. The first floor public service area will serve as a “one-stop shopping experience” for property taxes, local business taxes, auto tag, hunting and fishing licenses and all tax related information.  A state-of-the-art queuing system will alert customers when our tax specialists are ready to serve them and will help to significantly expedite transactions.

The Tax Collector’s new office building is in a prime location, easily accessible to all means of mass transit including buses, rail and pedestrian and within easy access to all amenities to enhance “Community Connectivity,” and is within half a mile of ten basic services, such as banks, schools, etc.  The connected parking garage boasts six floors of parking with 805 spaces.

The building has been awarded LEED® Gold Certification for the new construction promoting a whole-building approach to sustainability by recognizing performance in five key areas of environmental health: sustainable site development, water efficiency, energy efficiency, materials selection and indoor environmental quality.

The building site was a previous surface parking lot, therefore further minimizing the environment’s heat load, by the construction of a LEED project. The building has a white roof insulation system which reflects sunlight and minimizes cooling efficiency. It was designed so the HVAC, lighting, and other systems maximize the overall energy performance.  This includes the use of high-efficiency insulation, roofing materials, and parking lighting.  The use of a water booster pressure pump system will provide energy and water use savings due to regulation of water flow rates in the plumbing fixtures.  Additional water savings will also be achieved due to the use.
