Motor Vehicle Renewals

Florida State Statutes require that all motor vehicles, vessels, mobile homes and trailers in Florida be registered and/or titled. If moving to Florida from out of state, Florida law requires that you register and title your vehicle in Florida within ten (10) days of becoming a resident, becoming employed. The Miami-Dade Tax Collector acts as agent for the State of Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.

Save time and money! For your added convenience, you now have the option to renew your vehicle, vessel or mobile home for 2 years. When you choose the two-year renewal, you will receive the registration with an additional year added to the expiration date. This option is available online and in person at any Tax Collector’s Office or Private Branch Auto Tag Agency.

It's easy to renew. Use one of the following methods to renew your Florida motor vehicle license plate, mobile home, vessel, or disabled person parking placard registration:

• Renew online: http://express.hsmv.state.fl.us (This link will take you away from the Miami-Dade County website and directly to the State of Florida website.)
• Renew by mail:
