Every year, the National Association of Counties (NACo) recognizes counties who have implemented innovative programs in their county. Team Metro received three NACo Achievement Awards in 2007 for the following:
- Senior Housing Assistance Repair Program (S.H.A.R.P) – S.H.A.R.P. assists seniors 55 and older who do not have insurance with home repairs caused by a hurricane. An assessment of the individuals’ comprehensive needs is conducted and referrals are made to other agencies for assistance.
- Welcome Packages – The exterior of this beautifully designed folder welcomes new homeowners in English, Spanish, and Creole. The interior contains information ranging from area commissioners to code compliance that helps introduce Miami-Dade County to new property owners.
- Youth Empowered to Succeed (Y.E.S.) – In an effort to motivate incarcerated youth, successful Individuals from all walks of life visit the facility to speak to them. The program exposes at-risk children to role models who inspire the youth to walk down a positive path once they are released.
