About Information Technology

As the central technology provider for Miami-Dade County government, the Information Technology Department (ITD) provides services in areas of applications development and support, enterprise solutions, technology infrastructure and integration, IT security, geographic information systems, and computer/telecommunications to include radio support.

ITD's services are designed to improve government access, efficiency, and public value through responsive service, integrated information, and a shared infrastructure that is cost-effective, secure and reliable.

Technology sees no end on the horizon and, as a result, ITD continues to increase the level of innovative improvementsAdobe Reader to County services. Our department has undergone substantial changes in scope, direction and complexity while continuing to emerge in line with technology's best practices.

It is no simple task to maintain an effective enterprise environment in an organization as large and complex as our County government. ITD continuously strives to enable successful enterprise solutions while moving forward with an improved level of productivity and the deliverance of excellent services to our customers every day.

Applications and Solutions

The Enterprise Applications and Solutions Division provide services that incorporate the development of new systems, as well as, provide an ongoing support required to maintain systems on an enterprise, consortium, and/or departmental basis.

Computing and Network Infrastructure

The Information Technology Department maintains a reliable and efficient infrastructure area responsible for providing the base layers for all of the county’s information technology needs. It is composed of numerous business lines which encompass the areas of personal computers, laptops, and thin clients for the virtual desktop environment.

Data Services Center Division

The Data Services Center Division provides for a 24/7 operational support and hosting services for Miami-Dade County's Enterprise Systems applications.

Director's Biography

Angel Petisco serves as Director of the Information Technology Department of Miami-Dade County, a diversified data processing and communications organization serving one of the largest metropolitan county governments in the nation.

Radio Services Division

The Radio Services Division provides 24/7 maintenance and support of the County’s public safety radio infrastructure, as well as providing radio engineering and design services.

Service Improvement Plan - Information Technology (SIP-IT)

Miami Dade County’s Information Technology Department (ITD) is working on a strategic initiative to improve the overall delivery of technology services. The department has put together a Service Improvement Plan for Information Technology (SIP-IT) with five major focus areas; areas that address some of the challenges it faces today. 

Shared Services Division

Shared Services maintains an internal work order and billing system which manages and supports the interfaces within the external county service providers.
