e-Notify Enables Judicial Court Notifications via the Web
In 2010, Miami-Dade County’s Information Technology Department won the prestigious National Association of County’s award for the E-Notify System. This system enables judicial court notifications, subpoenas, and documented response acknowledgements be sent via the internet.
The e-Notify system provides Miami-Dade County jurisdictions with a single software platform for electronic submission, distribution, and tracking of court notices and subpoenas to officers from law enforcement agencies within the 11th Judicial Circuit of Florida. The system offers 54 law enforcement and 4 judicial agencies with the ability to electronically distribute and track inter-agency subpoenas, and notices via the Internet. The court notification distribution process that previously took several days (3 to 5 days) to complete using manual resources (approximately 40 staff members from the court liaison offices and 17 couriers) is now electronically handled for the law enforcement agencies using e-Notify. The system now processes approximately 40,000 to 50,000 court notifications on a monthly basis, an almost 200% increase in court notifications.
Since the system was implemented, the judicial agencies have benefited from being able to insure witness attendance, while efficiently and effectively making use of the officer’s time in court. Law enforcement officers have a system available to them via the internet; to manage their subpoena appearances and court appointments. This allows for an increase in the accountability in court attendance. The automation of the manual subpoena distribution process permits law enforcement agencies to redirect resources and increasing public safety patrol for the community.Back to Top Page Last Edited: Mon May 21, 2012 5:02:45 PM
