Welcome to the Miami-Dade County Information Technology Department's Geographic Information Systems (GIS), where residents and visitors can find information about the County's GIS developments and activities.
History of GIS
In 1986, Miami-Dade County commenced the development and implementation of a Geographic Information Systems (GIS). This effort was coordinated by the County’s Information Technology Department (ITD.)
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services
GIS Services include data subscriptions, maps data creation, spatial analysis software development and consulting to County departments, governmental agencies, businesses and citizens.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Self Service
The GIS Self Services site allows GIS users to download all public available data, at no cost. There are approximately 100 GIS data files available for download in shapefile (.zip) and DWG format.

The Information Technology Department (ITD) through its GIS Division, maintains a central repository of production geographic data available to all Miami-Dade County departments.

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a computer system that provides tools to store, edit, display and query data containing locational information, such as address, folio, census tract, Zip Code or x, y coordinates.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Users Group
The GIS Users Group is a forum for introducing new technology and processes to the GIS User Community. It allows developers and users to discuss the status of current GIS projects, enterprise-wide as well as departmental.
