Senior citizens and people with disabilities in our community regularly use Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail, Metromover, and Paratransit services.
Buses with wheelchair lifts and low-floor buses, available on all Metrobus routes, have raised our transit system to a new level of accessibility, providing increased independence for our passengers with disabilities.
Accessible Metrobus Routes
All Miami-Dade Transit buses are now wheelchair-accessible. Look for the international accessibility symbol on the front and side of the bus. If any barrier prevents your approaching the bus stop in a wheelchair or interferes with boarding, report the problem at 305-654-6586, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Most routes connect with Metrorail. Where applicable, transferring is available between bus routes.

Metrobus Reduced-Fare Permits
Most residents and visitors with disabilities and local youth in grades 1-12 can ride Metrobus at the $1 reduced fare. Simply show the operator a valid Metrobus reduced-fare permit to ride at the reduced fare.
People with disabilities can apply for a free Metrobus reduced-fare permit at the Transit Service Center on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays. Anyone with a permanent disability must produce a letter from a doctor or a valid ADA card from another region as proof of a medical condition.
Medicare recipients qualify to ride at a reduced fare on Metrobus. To ride at the reduced fare on Metrobus, show your Medicare card or bus reduced-fare permit to the bus operator and deposit the $1 reduced fare. Apply for the free bus reduced-fare permit at the Transit Service Center on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Metrorail Reduced-Fare Permits
The Metrorail reduced fare is $1, and Metromover is free. You must use a Metrorail reduced-fare permit to ride at the reduced fare. The monthly Metrorail reduced-fare permits cost 65 cents each and can be sold six months at a time. The permits are available at the Transit Service Center on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays.
Riders with a state-issued parking permit or license plate for people with disabilities may park free in spaces designated for disabled riders.
Medicare recipients qualify to ride at a reduced fare on Metrorail. To ride at the reduced fare on Metrorail, you must use a 65-cent Metrorail reduced-fare permit, which can be sold six at a time at the Transit Service Center on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Insert your rail reduced-fare permit, arrows forward, into the front slot of the fare turnstile, and then deposit the $1 reduced fare. Retrieve your permit for the turnstile.

Special Transportation Service (STS)
If you have a disability, as classified by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), that prevents you from using regular transit services (Metrobus, Metrorail, and/or Metromover), you may be eligible to use Special Transportation Service (STS). This service offers shared-ride, door-to-door transportation using accessible vehicles. The service is available throughout most of urbanized Miami-Dade County and operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day.
