    Miami-Dade Transit's Adopt-A-Station Program

    PurposeCivic Center Metrorail

    • Miami-Dade Transit's Adopt-A-Station program mission is to give businesses, community groups, schools  and universities the opportunity to join efforts with MDT to make our stations more attractive.
    • The program also helps MDT identify more closely with the neighborhoods it serves.  Forming a strong relationship with the communities creates unity and a welcoming, visually appealing environment at each station.

    Why adopt a station?

    • To promote the use of public transportation by creating a welcoming environment at your adopted MDT station.
    • To visually connect your adopted station with the surrounding community by offering your group's creative talents and resources.
    • To position your adopted MDT station as a gateway to your community.
    • To create a station that reflects the history and culture of your community.

How does the program work?College North Metromover

    • There is no fee to adopt a station.
    • What are some of the things my organization would have to do?
      • Painting station walls and/or murals that reflect the surrounding community.
      • Provide additional or enhanced lightning to brighten the station.
      • Landscaping the area with flowering plants, small trees and shrubs.
      • Providing more trash receptacles to help keep the station clean.
      • Providing new benches.
      • Providing opportunities for local artists to display their work at the station.
      • Organizations supply all materials.  Organizations are encouraged to reach out to independent businesses to solicit donations of items needed for the station beautification projects.  Examples: paint, lightning equipment, plants, etc.
      • Organizations agree to adopt the station for a term of one (1) year.

What are the benefits to my organization?Bayfront Metromover

    • After completion of a station beautification project, participants will be presented with a plaque acknowledging the contribution.  This plaque will be prominently displayed at the adopted station.
    • The plaque recognizing the participants' effort is a testament of their community involvement and civic pride in making their station a cleaner and more visually appealing commuting center.
    • Participants are also eligible to receive a space at their adopted station to promote their business through signage and/or the distribution of promotional giveaways.
