Help shape county’s public transportation future

 


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Residents are invited to join Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Alvarez; County Commission Chairman Dennis C. Moss; County Commissioner Barbara Jordan, Chairperson of the Transit, Infrastructure and Roads Committee; the Board of Miami-Dade County Commissioners; and other local officials to share their ideas about public transportation in Miami-Dade County at the 2nd Annual Transit Summit on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Miami-Dade County Commission Chambers, Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW First Street in downtown Miami.

The public also can watch the summit live on Miami-Dade TV or view the simultaneous webcast at www.miamidade.gov. Viewers can call in their comments or questions live at 786-469-5551 or use the feedback form at www.miamidade.gov/transit/summit. County staff will respond to all comments not addressed at the summit.

The summit will showcase the progress made over the past year in public transportation and give the public an opportunity to provide input on future transit plans. Updates will be provided on a number of projects including the EASY Card, the restructuring of Miami-Dade Transit's Metrobus system, the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Metrorail Connector project, new Metromover vehicles and the planned Metrorail fleet replacement. In the interest of time, the public is asked to direct comments to the projects presented.
