Miami-Dade Transit introduces direct express bus service between Miami International Airport and Miami Beach

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
As part of the bus service adjustments effective Dec. 13, 2009, Miami-Dade Transit will introduce an express bus route that will make going to Miami International Airport fast, easy and convenient for travelers and airport employees.

The Airport Flyer (Route 150) will provide express service from about 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., seven days a week, between MIA and Miami Beach, making one stop at the Earlington Heights Metrorail station. For just $2.35 each way, passengers can ride in style aboard 40-foot buses equipped with luggage racks and comfortable seating. Buses will be specially branded for easy identification by the public.

The Airport Flyer, which is being fully funded by a grant from the Federal Transit Administration, will provide a rapid, reliable and inexpensive transit connection for the millions of visitors, residents and commuters who travel to and from MIA every year. This route also will provide viable transportation for those who work at the airport.

Miami-Dade County, along with the City of Miami Beach, will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the inauguration of the Airport Flyer on Monday, Dec. 14, 2009, at 10 a.m., at the MIA bus terminal, Terminal E lower level (arrivals), across from short-term parking.

The media is invited to join Miami-Dade County and City of Miami Beach officials in a short bus ride from MIA.
