Miami-Dade Transit sponsors Farmers Markets
to benefit The United Way
|
|
(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- Miami-Dade Transit is sponsoring Farmers Markets to benefit the United Way of Miami-Dade. At the markets, transit riders, as well as members of the community at large, will have the opportunity to purchase fresh fruit, vegetables and prepared foods.
The markets will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.: the Stephen P. Clark Government Center on Tuesdays and the Adrienne Arsht Center Metromover station on Wednesdays. The Farmers Markets will continue until the end of May 2012.
"I'm glad that Miami-Dade Transit is teaming up with our local farmers markets for a great cause," said Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos A. Gimenez. "Supporting the important work of the United Way, while bringing healthy foods to our residents, is a winning combination."
"By purchasing fresh produce from these farmers markets, our transit riders have an opportunity to support Miami-Dade County's small business community, as well as the United Way," said MDT Director Ysela Llort.
