Orange Line Phase 1: Miami Intermodal Center (MIC) / Earlington Heights Connector

    Project Description

    • Alignment Map The MIC/Earlington Heights Connector Metrorail Extension consists of 2.4 miles of elevated dual track guideway, one Metrorail station at the MIC, and a bus terminal plaza.

    • Miami-Dade Transit has completing the design for the MIC/Earlington Heights Connector, which will be an extension of the existing Miami-Dade Metrorail system.  The Project is located in central Miami-Dade County, and will connect the MIC (located north of NW 21st Street and east of NW 42nd Avenue) to the existing elevated guideway just west of the Earlington Heights Metrorail station (located at NW 41st Street and NW 22nd Avenue).

    • From the Earlington Heights Metrorail station, the Metrorail Extension will run westerly on the north side of State Road (SR) 112.  It will cross over SR 112, then make a southerly turn just west of NW 32nd Avenue and cross over the Miami River.  It will then cross over the South Florida Rail Corridor (SFRC) and run parallel to the SFRC until it ends in the Metrorail station at the MIC.

    • The Project will provide a direct link between downtown Miami and the MIC.

    • Direct access between the MIC and Miami International Airport (MIA) will be provided by an Automated People Mover.  This project will be constructed by Miami-Dade Aviation and the Florida Department of Transportation.
