Discount Fare EASY Cards

Senior Citizens
Senior citizens (those who are 65 years old and over) who do not reside in Miami-Dade County (MDC) can ride on Metrobus and Metrorail at the discount fare with a Discount Fare EASY Card. Seniors need to provide proof of age.  All applicants must present a government issued Picture ID.

People with Disabilities
People with disabilities are also able to ride Metrobus and Metrorail at the discount fare with a Discount Fare  EASY Card.

Medicare Recipients
Medicare recipients are eligible to apply for the Discount Fare EASY Card.

Preschoolers taller than 42 inches can obtain a preschool identification. Parents or guardians of pre-schoolers must provide child's birth certificate and proof of guardianship, and a picture of the parent or guardian.

People with Disabilities

People with disabilities are also able to ride Metrobus and Metrorail at the discount fare with a Discount Fare  EASY Card.  To apply, please have the Discount Fare ID Application adobe reader needed to view this form form completed by a Florida Licensed Physician certifying type of disability, medical code and whether the disability is permanent. 

The completed application must then be brought to the Transit Service Center, located on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station at 111 NW 1st Street, Miami, FL 33128.

(Please note that all forms on this page are in standard PDF, including the Discount Fare ID Application. these forms must be printed out by the patron.)

Once you obtain your Discount Fare EASY Card, you must load the card with monetary value to ride at half fare whenever you board a bus or train, or with a 1-Month Pass for $50, a 7-Day Pass for $13 or a 1-Day Pass for $2.50. Cards can be loaded and reloaded for up to three years wherever EASY Cards are sold.

Medicare Recipients

Medicare recipients can apply for the Discount Fare EASY Card at the Transit Service Center located on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, at 111 NW 1st Street Miami, FL 33128.  The Transit Service Center is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., excluding County-observed holidays. Be sure to bring your Medicare card and Picture ID.

If you are a current Discount Fare EASY Card transit customer under the age of 65, please note that your EASY Card expires on April 30th of every year. In order to avoid disruption in your use of the card, MDT encourages you to renew your service BEFORE April 30th of each year. If you do not renew by April 30th, your card will be disabled and will not work until it has been renewed.

Preschoolers Identification Card

Apply at the The Transit Service Center located on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station, located at 111 NW 1st Street Miami, FL  33128. The center is open Monday - Friday, from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., excluding holidays.

Preschoolers less than 42 inches tall can ride Metrobus and Metrorail free at all times with an accompanying adult. Metromover is free for everyone. Parents or guardians of pre-schoolers are encouraged to present proof of age to bus operators and rail personnel to access the system. EASY Cards are not issued to preschoolers.

How to Apply

People with documented Disabilities - Doctor's letter indicating the type of disability, medical code and whether that disability is permanent; All applicants must present a government issued photo ID.

  • Medicare Recipients - Medicare card; All applicants must present a government issued photo ID.
  • Senior citizens 65 years and over who do not reside in Miami-Dade County;  All applicants must present a government issued photo ID.

    Renewals by Mail or Fax

    To renew by mail or fax, copies of the required documents must be forwarded to MDT. This does NOT include new applications. Your address must be current and correct in our computer system.

    Golden Passport (Under 65): Print-out verifying continued Social Security benefits, Florida ID or Florida Driver's License, front/back of current EASY Card

    Golden Passport (65 and over):  Florida ID or Florida Driver's License, front/back of current EASY Card

    Patriot Passport: Income statements (W-2, VA 1010 Form, or employer's check stubs), Florida ID or Florida Driver's License, front/back of current EASY Card

    Discount Fare - Seniors: Florida ID or Florida Driver's License, front/back of current EASY Card

    Discount Fare - Passengers with Disabilities: Completed Discount Fare Application, including Physician's Section, Florida ID or Florida's Driver's License, front/back of current EASY Card.

    Lost, Stolen or Damaged Golden Passport EASY Cards

    If your Golden Passport EASY Card is lost or stolen, report it by calling 786-469-5028. You can get your lost, stolen or damaged EASY Card replaced at any of the Transit Service Centers by completing the EASY Card Replacement Form adobe reader needed to view this form. There is a $10 fee to replace a lost or stolen Golden Passport EASY Card. A one-time fee waiver is available if an original police report listing the Golden Passport is presented.
