Golden Passport:
If you are a senior citizen 65 years and older or a Social Security beneficiary and are a permanent Miami-Dade resident, you are eligible to ride transit free with a Golden Passport EASY Card.
Applicants 65 years and older receive a card that expires every three years. When applying for the 65 and older Golden Passport, you must provide a current valid Florida ID or driver's license. You will receive a Golden Passport EASY Card that is valid for three years. Eligible seniors will need to reactivate the card on the third year during their birth month.
Applicants 64 years of age and younger must submit a current printout from the Social Security Administration verifying eligibility, and proof of continued eligibility must be provided annually when the card is renewed. Applicants 64 years and younger receive a card that expires annually on April 30th each year. When applying for the 65 and older Golden Passport, you must provide a current valid Florida ID or driver's license. Eligible children must have a school ID or Florida ID.
Patriot Passport: All honorably discharged veterans who are permanent residents of Miami-Dade and whose annual income is $22,000 or less are eligible to ride transit free with the Patriot Passport EASY Card. The Patriot Passport expires annually.
When applying for the Patriot Passport, provide an employer's check stub, proof of veteran's benefits, Income Tax W2 wages statement as proof of income; and provide a voter's registration card, a utility bill or VA verification letter as proof of residency. Provide a current valid Florida ID or driver's license, and your DD214 or VA 1010 form as proof of an honorable discharge. Proof of income and a valid Florida ID or Florida driver's license must be provided annually to receive the card by June 30th each year.
Register at the Transit Service Center on the second level of the Government Center Metrorail station and receive your Golden Passport or Patriot Passport immediately. Lost, Stolen or Damaged Golden and Patriot Passport EASY Cards If your Golden or Patriot Passport EASY Card is lost or stolen, report it by calling 311. You can get your lost, stolen or damaged EASY Card replaced at the Transit Service Center.
There is a $10 fee to replace a lost or stolen Golden Passport or Patriot Passport EASY Card. This fee can be waived if the original police report listing the Golden Passport or Patriot Passport is presented.
