Senior citizens and people with disabilities in our community regularly use Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail, Metromover, and Paratransit services. Buses with wheelchair lifts and low-floors, available on all Metrobus vehicles, have raised our transit system to a new level of accessibility, providing increased independence for passengers with mobility impairments.
Note: Metrorail and Metromover do not serve Miami International Airport. Use regular bus routes to connect to Metrorail or the shuttle bus for transfers to Tri-Rail. Metromover operates around the downtown Miami area only.
All Metrobus vehicles are accessible to people with disabilities. However, some bus stops may not be accessible. During your visit, if you encounter a barrier that prevents your approach to the bus stop in a wheelchair or interferes with boarding or exiting the bus, call 305-654-6586, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Special Transportation Service
If you cannot ride Metrobus, Metrorail, or Metromover because of a permanent disability, call 786-469-5000 (TTY Users, 305-263-5459) for information about our Special Transportation Service. For $3 per one-way trip, STS offers shared-ride, door-to-door travel in accessible vehicles throughout most of Miami-Dade County, in some parts of south Broward County, and in northern Monroe County.
Special Transportation Service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including most holidays. Use STS for trips to medical appointments, school, work, shopping, business, or recreation. Air-conditioned minivans, small buses, lift-equipped vans, and sedans transport passengers with disabilities safely in a clean, smoke-free environment. Pickups are within 30 minutes of the scheduled time.
Who May Use STS?
Any resident whose disability prevents his or her riding regular transit vehicles qualifies for STS. Residents with temporary disabilities may also be eligible for this service.
Visitors certified in another ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) jurisdiction also may be eligible for STS. To determine eligibility for this service while visiting Miami, fax the following information prior to your trip to 786-469-5033: a letter proving disability along with your name, address while in Miami, and a copy of your hometown special transit or ADA pass. Include also whether you need a personal care attendant or use a wheelchair, cane, etc. Requests for service must be made in advance.
*More information can be found in the STS Rider's Guide, which is being reviewed and is currently unavailable online.
