Hours of Operation

Metrorail operates from 5 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week. 

Metrorail service frequency:

• Trains arrive every 10 minutes during weekday rush hours
• Every 15 minutes at midday
• Every 30 minutes from about 7:30 p.m. until closing
• Weekend service runs every 30 minutes

Note: The Metrorail schedule may vary up to 12 minutes on weekdays after 8 p.m. and on weekends due to "single tracking," when southbound and northbound trains alternate trips on the same track while maintenance is being conducted on the opposite track. Listen to train announcements for additional information. We apologize for the inconvenience.
