Miami-Dade Transit's Annual Black History Tours Return in February

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade Transit’s award-winning Black History tours return for the 13th year to once again highlight historical landmarks in Miami’s African American community.

The free tours, launched in 1994 as Transit’s contribution to Miami-Dade County's annual celebration of Black History Month, remain a popular outing as well as an educational tool for the community.  Trained MDT bus operators narrate the approximately 3 1/2-hour tour aboard air-conditioned buses.

Each Saturday in February, festive tour-goers gather at the Stephen P. Clark Center, 111 NW First Street, in downtown Miami near NW Second Avenue. Tour buses visit historical sites in Coconut Grove, Overtown, Liberty City, Brownsville, and Allapattah, leaving downtown starting at 9 a.m. MDT also offers weekday group tours of 25 or more individuals.

Reservations are required. To schedule a tour, call 305-654-6545, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information, click the Tours link at www.miamidade.gov/transit.
