Miami-Dade Transit's Annual Toy Drive Returns

Tenth year providing toys for children of our community

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
Miami-Dade Transit's annual "Toys for Tokens" toy drive returns this year on December 11th and 14th at several high-ridership Metrorail stations.  Miami-Dade Transit is asking transit riders and Miami-Dade County residents to bring new, unwrapped toys to Dadeland South, Dadeland North, South Miami, Government Center, Civic Center, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Plaza, Northside, Okeechobee and Palmetto Metrorail stations. Toys can be placed in colorful collection boxes on both days at each these stations, between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.  All who donate a toy will receive two tokens good for two trips on Metrobus or Metrorail.

To kick off the toy drive on Monday, December 11th, popular radio station 99 JAMZ FM will broadcast live from the Government Center Metrorail station (111 NW First Street - level 2) from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.  The morning team of Big Lip Bandit, Supa Cindy and Benji Brown will ask listeners to come out and donate a toy.  Their morning show will offer those present an opportunity to win raffle prizes.

On Thursday, December 14th, Spanish radio station AMOR 107.5 FM personalities Javier Romero and Osvaldo Vega will broadcast their popular morning show, "Desayuno Musical" from the same location, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.  Prizes will be raffled to those present.  This is the 10th year that AMOR 107.5 has joined MDT in their annual toy drive.

Last year more than two thousand toys were distributed to children throughout the community.
