New Busway Park & Ride lot to open in Cutler Bay

(Miami-Dade County, FL) --
There's good news for South Miami-Dade commuters looking for relief from gridlock and the latest jump in gas prices.

Miami-Dade Transit is opening a new 456-space Busway Park & Ride lot at SW 204th Street and 112th Avenue in Cutler Bay. County Commissioners will perform the official ribbon cutting on Friday, July 10 at 10 a.m. The public is invited.

Located next to the Target shopping center, the new lot will replace the 95-space lot at 200th Street, helping alleviate the heavy demand for parking along the popular South Miami-Dade Busway, which enjoys more than 20,000 daily boardings. The 20-mile-long Busway connects south Miami-Dade County with Metrorail, allowing passengers to save money and time by avoiding traffic congestion on U.S. 1.

"This new Park & Ride lot will fill a growing need as more and more residents discover the benefits of fast, stress-free commuting on the Busway," Miami-Dade Transit Director Harpal Kapoor said. "Our Busway Park & Ride lots usually fill up by 8 a.m. because of the heavy demand, and we know more people would use the Busway if the parking were available. Now it will be."
