Special traffic advisory on MIC-Earlington Heights Connector construction

Temporary Road Closure on NW 41 Street from west of NW 27th Avenue to NW 32nd Avenue:


(Miami-Dade County, FL) -- 
Beginning September 16, 2009 through February 16, 2010:  As part of construction activities for Miami-Dade Transit's Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector Project, the contractor will implement a full road closure on NW 41st Street from west of NW 27th Avenue to NW 32nd Avenue. This road will remain closed through the duration of the drainage and roadway improvements and will be in place for approximately four to six months through February 16, 2010.  Motorists traveling southbound on NW 27 Avenue will be detoured south to NW 36 Street, west on NW 36 Street and then northbound on NW 32nd Avenue.  Motorists traveling northbound on NW 27th Avenue will be detoured north to NW 46th Street, west on NW 46th Street and then southbound on NW 32nd Avenue.  There will be signs noting these detour routes.  Access to the S.R. 112 (Airport Expressway) on-ramp at NW 27th Avenue will be maintained at all times.

*The Miami Intermodal Center (MIC)-Earlington Heights Connector is a 2.4-mile elevated Metrorail extension from the existing Earlington Heights Station to the MIC next to Miami International Airport. This vital project will provide a reliable Metrorail connection to the airport for the millions of residents, visitors and employees who travel to and from MIA every year. The project also will provide a boost to the local economy by creating jobs and facilitating work-related travel and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
